Yesterday was one of the first days where my lovely friends and I all had free schedules at the same time! We put our heads together, and with great ideas and with great influence of the spectacular weather, we knew we should go somewhere where we could roam out in nature. Being in Tennessee, there are countless trails and waterfalls to indulge your inner mountain man in, so it wasn't hard to find a beautiful place to spend the rest of the evening. We decided to make a trip to Manchester, Tennessee to visit the wonderful Rutledge Falls. The drive from Murfreesboro to Manchester is about 45 minutes, so it wasn't too far away. This is one of my favorite waterfalls in Tennessee because:
- It's such a tucked away place, yet easy to get to. It's basically in someone's back yard, but they let everyone enjoy the falls... which is simply so sweet of them.
- It's flipping BEAUTIFUL.
- The water is always so clear and there's always beautiful wildflowers that bloom around the falls.
- This is the waterfall where I fell in love with my wonderful boyfriend.
We spent about an hour and a half roaming around the falls before sunset, and it was so nice and refreshing to see a change of scenery from work and the classroom; a sweet little getaway.
Being an artsy fart that I am, I brought my film camera along for the trip. My 1939 Argus film camera still had film in it from last March and I really wanted to finish my roll so I knew I would get some lovely pictures here. When we all got down to the foot of the falls, despite the new autumn weather, Addie decided to get in the water so I could get some really artsy pictures in black and white film. (The water was FREEZING, but she did it for the art of photography. A true sport if you ask me.) After I got the shots I wanted, I decided to get in too - just for the heck of it! It was such a wonderful day filled with beautiful scenery and beautiful friends.
If you are ever in the Middle Tennessee area, I truly recommend checking this place out! You will not be disappointed! (But if you decide to go, take a dip! It's cold, but it's worth every shiver! Live a little!)
